Infertility Timeline

I have been diagnosed with Hypothalamic Amenorrhea (HA). As a result of HA I have to be stuffed with meds in order to ovulate. Here’s our journey:

  • Feb 2013 – got off birth control ~ never got my period again.
  • Oct 2013- OBGYN  appointment ~ determined this is not good.
  • Nov 2013- Progesterone meds to induce period – No luck.
  • Nov 2013 – Birth control pills to induce period – Worked!
  • Dec 2013 – Hormones checked – results:  I’m “hormone-less” ~ Referred to specialist
  • Jan 2014 – Saline sonogram procedure  – all clear!
  • Feb 2014 – MRI – rule out brain tumor ~ All clear!
  • March 2014- July 2014: At this point, the fertility doctor wanted to meet to discuss our next step. She wanted to do an IUI (artificial insemination). We chose to sit it out for a little bit until we were completely 100% prepared to be pregnant because of course it would happen on the first IUI. – ha! ha! ha! That’s hilarious!!
  • Sept 2014 – IUI #1 ~FAIL
  • Oct 2014 – IUI #2 ~ chemical pregnancy – lost at 5 weeks.
  • Dec 2014 – IUI #3 ~ FAIL
  • Feb 2015 – IVF #1 – went in for baseline scans: I’m ovulating. What the F ~ FAIL… got my period for an HOUR. #WhatAJoke
  • March 2015 – feeling optimistic I ovulated on my own last month. Let’s try a medicated cycle – FAIL
  • April – May 2015 – IVF #1 – FAIL
  • June 2015 – started acupuncture…
  • July 2015 – I went in for my FET baseline scan… I’m ovulating on my own…… WTF: Results (see IUI #4)
  • August 2015 – IUI #4 – FAIL
  • Sept/Oct 2015 – Fresh IVF #2 … POSITIVE!

  3. Hey Mallory!!! I have gone through two failed IUI’s and after having surgery this month, my doctor will be considering me for IVF. I was wondering how many embryos you had placed each time and if you did anything different with IVF #2 and #1?

    1. Hey christy! I had ONE put in each time. And I am very thankful for one little embryo… the idea of twins was not for me 🙂
And other than some very minor medication tweeks, nothing was different. I didn’t do anything different before/after retrieval and transfer.
I wish you the best!! Always feel free to message me if you would like to talk or have any more questions 🙂
